Mornings: one child has gotten up and is not feeling so well, another has had a spill all over the kitchen table. There is a bathroom incident, etc, etc….
From one mom to another, I know there are always these little things that come up, which leaves us very little time to get ourselves ready.
We usually literally have 5 minutes to put on a face that doesn’t say “I’ve had a really crazy morning”.
5 Minute Makeup Tips
Here are some tips to spend as little time on your makeup as possible, but still look fresh!
Step 1: Skin (2 minutes)
Skip the usual 2 step process and use a BB or CC cream. This combines a moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, and foundation in one easy step!
You could also cheat by mixing your moisturizer and foundation together.
Use your fingers to apply and blend. Super easy, and quick!
OR
If you don’t wear foundation, moisturize and apply concealer with your ring finger to the following areas, as needed:
-undereyes
-red spots like between the brows, around the nose, and corners of your mouth
-any pimples you want to cover
Apply some [easyazon_link identifier=”B00PFCSNWA” locale=”US” tag=”practmommy-20″]translucent powder[/easyazon_link] to the areas with concealer to set it.
Honestly, this is what I end up doing most days and it makes a big enough difference in my appearance, without needing a full face of foundation!
If you’ve got heavy undereye bags, read my post on some tricks to get rid of dark undereye circles, where I also quickly go over how to best apply concealer.

Step 2: Bronzer (15 seconds)
Using a [easyazon_link identifier=”B001KYVLSU” locale=”US” tag=”practmommy-20″]fluffy brush[/easyazon_link], apply your favorite bronzer to the hallows of your cheeks, and the sides of your forehead. Now, whatever is remaining on the brush and brush it ALL OVER your face.
This not only helps to blend the bronzer out a bit, but it adds a bit of colour and helps to even out your skin without the heavy feeling of foundations.
Step 3: Blush (15 seconds)
Using a blush brush, apply your go-to blush colour to the apples of your cheeks and your eyelids. I love applying blush to my eyelids. It adds a touch of colour without being too obvious, and creates a uniform look.
I love blush because it adds a healthy, fresh glow to the face. Avoid a colour that’s too intense or dark, you don’t want to overdo it. We’re going for an understated look here.

Step 4: Eyes (1 minute)
We already applied some blush to the eyes really quickly, so there’s already a bit of colour there.
If you’ve got decent lashes, you can just curl and apply some mascara and you’re done!
If you’re like me though (I have non-existent lashes), I like to do this:
-Apply pencil liner to my top eyelid (this doesn’t have to be perfect, just get it on!)
-Using a pencil brush or a Q-tip, dip it into some brown or black eyeshadow powder, and soften that line out. Any mistakes you’ve made will blend out.
Super quick and easy way to add some definition to the eyes.
If you’ve got an extra 30 seconds, add a pale shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corner of your eyes with your ring or pinky finger! This immediately brightens up the eyes.
Step 5: Brows (1 minute)
Fuller brows help you look younger. Fuller brows also mean less maintenance and time spent on them.
If needed, fill in any sparse areas in your brows. We aren’t trying to get that “Eyebrows on FLEEK!” Instagram brow look, so don’t worry about being extra perfect today. We just want them to give your face definition.
For those occasions where you want to spend extra time on your brows, learn how to do them by following my eyebrow tutorial.

Step 6: Lips (30 seconds)
While red lips are super classic and sexy, they’re just not practical.
Throw on a sheer lipstick, gloss or balm, so there’s no need to worry about bleeding and or lining your lips.
You’re done and ready to face the world!

Great tips Kristen! I can across your blog on the Grow Your Blog Facebook group.
My kids are grown now but I still don’t have time to put on a full face of make-up. I put everything except for eyeliner and sometimes I skip the contouring if I’m just staying home. 🙂
Passing this along to other moms! Have a great rest of the week and weekend.
