Landed In Kazakhstan
American Scott Kelly and Russian Mikhail Korniyenko spent exactly 340 days in space on the ISS space station. During this time, they circled the Earth 5540 times. Now they are back on Earth. In a space capsule, they landed in Kazakhstan landed again. They were unusually long on the ISS, the international space station. Normally, astronauts are exchanged there more quickly and do not have to stay so long.
Long Stay Has An Important Reason
That the two stayed there so long, however, has an important reason. It is planned that sometimes when one does not know yet, a man is to fly to Mars. But such a journey to Mars takes a very long time. For this reason, one wants to test now, how long a human being can stay in the universe, without becoming ill. Thus one could determine that after a long time the muscles of humans become weaker. That’s why the two astronauts had a bit of trouble walking now when they returned.
Explanation Of The Difficult Words
Kazakhstan is a state between the Caspian Sea in the west and the Altai Mountains in the east. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the country declared itself independent as the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 16, 1991. In terms of area, Kazakhstan is the ninth-largest state on Earth.
