The Right Time To Get Pregnant – How To Calculate Your Ovulation

When does the ominous ovulation occur and when do you get pregnant? These are crucial questions that women often ask themselves.

In a moment we will answer these elementary questions. One way to find out is to calculate ovulation. If a cycle lasts 28 days, then about 14 days after the start of bleeding is ovulation.

Ovulation

An average healthy woman has two ovaries, called ovaries, one on the right and one on the left side of the uterus. They are where the storage of immature eggs takes place. In each ovary there are countless clusters of cells, the follicles, in which the egg matures. The largest, best-developed egg is secreted or rejected from one of the two ovaries around the middle of the cycle.

This moment, when the egg is released from the ovary, is called ovulation or fertile days. The word “jump” probably comes from the fact that the skin of the follicular vesicle in which the egg has matured literally explodes. This allows the egg to enter the fallopian funnel and march on into the fallopian tube. Which of the two ovaries releases the egg is completely random. Ovulation does not necessarily switch sides every cycle.

The Right Time – How To Calculate Ovulation

Many girls or women wonder whether they are fertile only on the day of ovulation, or whether there are other fertile days. To be fertile and reproduce, you have a time zone of about 72 hours before and about 24 hours after ovulation. During this period you must have sexual intercourse. The reason for this is that sperm live for about 72 hours, but an egg dies already 24 hours after ovulation – of course, only if it has not been fertilized.

If you have sexual intercourse during this period around ovulation, then the chances of getting pregnant are good: Normal, healthy couples have a 25 percent chance of conceiving a baby each cycle. This means that 75 to 85 percent of all women will become pregnant within a year if they do not use contraception.

Having sex the day before ovulation occurs is optimal for getting pregnant. However, because sperm can linger for a few days, fertile days begin five to six days before ovulation. You can increase the likelihood of having a baby by becoming familiar with your cycle and the monthly hormonal fluctuations in your body, and by regularly taking your basal body temperature. If you record this data in an ovulation calendar, then you can better estimate when to expect your fertile days each month.
