More Exciting Than Ever
That was perhaps an exciting match between Germany and Italy? Did you see it too? Many were afraid that Germany would again fail to win against Italy in an important match at a tournament. But this time it finally worked out, even if it was very close.
Germany Takes The Lead
For a long time there were no great chances. For the German team, but not for the Italians either. And then Germany did take a 1:0 lead. In the 65th minute Mesut Özil managed to take the lead. But unfortunately, a short time later there was a penalty kick for Italy. German player Jerome Boateng got the ball to his hand and the Italian scored on the penalty kick to equalize 1-1. Until the 90th minute it remained at this result and there were 2x 15 minutes of extra time. But even in this extra time, neither team managed to score a goal and the game had to be decided in a penalty shootout. And there it became really exciting. Only the ninth German player managed the decision and was able to shoot the decisive penalty into the goal of the Italians. The lucky player was Jonas Hector, who plays for 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga.
Germany is now in the semifinals, so among the last 4 teams. This match is then next Thursday and the winner will be in the final of the European Championship. We all have to keep our fingers crossed again on Thursday.
