Wouldn’t it be nice if our clothes could speak to us for special occasions? While our clothes don’t do that, they are still willing to work with you. As a mom, you might not be able to go out on weekly “date nights” but staying connected to your significant other is a must. If you’re mom who needs a little help in the style department, check out these tips.

Don’t Be A Frumpy Mom – 10 Tips To Ditch The Frump. Wouldn’t it be nice if our clothes could speak to us for special occasions? While our clothes don’t do that, they are still willing to work with you.

10 Tips To Ditch The Frump

#1. Keep it simple – When it comes to dressing for date night, keep it as simple as possible. The more items of clothing and accessories you wear, the more complicated your outfit looks. Here are some more tips on quick changes between play dates and date nights.

#2. Wear something with pockets – If you have kids, you’re going to want to keep your phone close, just in case the sitter needs to reach you. Pockets answer the age old question of “where to store your phone.”

If you need some help with your wardrobe after becoming a mom, definitely check out Stitch Fix! Nothing fit me after I had two kids plus I never had any time to shop. Stitch Fix will design outfits just for you and your tastes and mail them directly to you. Try them on in your own home and send back what you don’t love. I’ve used their service a few times and it is amazing!

PLUS they’re running a special right now – you’ll get a $25 credit when you use my special affiliate link – Check it out today.

#3. Spend time on your hair – The hair can make or break an outfit, so spend a little extra time perfecting those locks.

#4. Don’t be afraid to be funky – There are no rules when it comes to have your own style. Even if you’re dressing up, still keep a little YOU in your outfit.

Here’s a great tip – use Stitch Fix to try new and funky styles. Let your stylist know you want to try something different by updating your style profile. Then you can try everything on with what you already own. This is a great way to change up your style if you get in a slump – have someone else pick it out for you!

If you’re currently pregnant, here are some tips to dress up your baby bump.

#5. Go for the accessories – If you aren’t sure your outfit is dressed up enough for a fancy schmancy party, don’t be afraid to go for the accessories. A nice necklace, bracelet, and earrings can go a long way!

#6. Go easy on the heels – Wearing heels is one of the most fun parts of dressing up, however be careful! You don’t want to hurt yourself and have to sit during your night of freedom.

#7. Ask for an opinion – If you are really hurting for style advice, don’t be afraid to ask for an opinion from someone you know and trust. They might just save you from an embarrassing moment.

#8. You’re not a teenager – This tip isn’t meant to be disrespectful, but just remember your age and what looks good on you. You can be risqué with your look, you just don’t want to look risky.

#9. Don’t be afraid to copy a style you love – If there’s a celebrity mom and you just love her style, don’t be afraid to copy her. Sometimes you just need a little inspiration to get the look you’ve been searching for.

I am so thankful yogawear is “in” and acceptable outdoors wear. If you love Kate Hudson like I do, you’ll want to check out her new line of clothes called Fabletics. Not only is it super cute, but you can have outfits shipped to you monthly. That’s a fabulous perk when taking all the kids to the grocery store is all you can muster on the weekend.

#10. Take a picture – Since you’re a mom and you only get to dress up every so often, take a picture! You’ll want to look back on this memory, often.

Looking good as a mom is easy when you follow these tips to ditch the frumpy mom look. It may have been a while since you’ve been out on the town, but this year you will totally be rocking it!

These are awesome tips! I was just thinking today…”I feel frumpy.” It’s probably because I am wearing sweatpants, there’s spit up on my shirt, and I haven’t washed my hair in two days. I also love your suggestion of taking a picture. I was just saying to my hubby that I would like to be in more of our family’s pictures since I’m usually the one taking the pictures! Thanks for your list. 🙂
