Think about how to reach your partner or the person attending the birth as soon as you start having regular contractions.
You should always keep important clinic or midwife phone numbers handy and distribute them in several areas around the house.
The maternity passport should also be kept where you can find it again immediately because you will have to take it with you to the clinic.
Remember the route and how long it will take you to get to the clinic
You should also always have the phone numbers of family members ready.
If you already have children, you should organize their care in advance.
You should start preparing for the birth at the latest from the 37th week when the birth is considered to be on schedule.
The following items should be included in the hospital kit during pregnancy in terms of birth preparation:
- Approximately 2 breastfeeding pads.
- Absorbent sanitary napkins.
- Nursing pads
- Several nightgowns
- Several briefs
- Toiletry bag: toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, shower gel, shampoo, face cream, washcloth
- For the trip home: clothes, baby clothes, jacket, ca
- Bag for used laundry.
You should note that you need a baby seat for the baby.
Before the birth, you should draw up a birth plan on which it is noted what your wishes and attitudes are with regard to the birth. Keep it realistic. Make a note on it of who will be accompanying you, the desired birth position, whether you want pain medication, whether you want an amnioscopy (artificial rupture of the amniotic sac) and whether an episiotomy (perineal incision) should be performed if it is necessary.
