Bassinet Advice

Which Bassinet Suits Me?

Bassinets are very practical, because thanks to them you can move freely at home and your baby can still sleep well. A bassinet can always be easily used wherever it is needed. Babies and parents usually feel more comfortable when they are in one room.

But there are different models on the market. In addition to the classic bassinet, multifunctional models have also become established and these are becoming increasingly popular.

If you are not sure which bassinet suits you, then you only need to answer one question.

Do You Want A Classic Bassinet Or A Multifunctional One?

If you prefer a classic bassinet, then you are type A. Classic bassinets often have a pretty canopy, which is also practical if you like to sit with your baby in the garden. Most importantly, most models have wheels so that they can be easily rolled from room to room without waking up your baby when he is sleeping. The advantage is that you always have your baby in view and can therefore do without a baby monitor.

Other bassinets are multifunctional. They can stand firmly or be converted into a rocker. They can be folded and used as a travel cot or serve as a high chair. This is, of course, very convenient, as you only have to buy one piece of furniture and not several. If you would like to have a multifunctional bassinet, then you are type B.

You Would Like To Have A Classic Bassinet?

You are type A

Type A wants a classic bassinet that can be easily moved from A to B in the apartment or house. If you are type A, then the Alvi complete bassinet and the Schardt Babsi bassinet are the most suitable models for you. However, you can of course also buy a multifunctional bassinet, as these usually do not have high price differences to the classic variant. This way you would be on the safe side in case you want to use the bassinet for other purposes at some point.

The Alvi complete bassinet birthe

The bassinet from Alvi is well thought out and convinces with a beautiful look. It gets its stability from the frame made of solid pine. Your baby will fit comfortably in the beautiful hand-woven wicker basket. The four wheels make it easy to roll it to where it is needed, so your baby is always with you. The bassinet from Alvi comes to you including canopy, bassinet set and fleece mattress.

Schardt bassinet Babsi

The Schardt bassinet is also very stable due to the X-frame made of solid beech. It has a beautiful canopy, which is included along with the mattress, a nest and the textile equipment. Thanks to the 4 casters, it is easy to move. However, various reviews criticize the difficult assembly and the unhelpful instructions. But once the bassinet is in place, it provides babies with a wonderful place to sleep.

You would rather have a multifunctional bassinet?

You are type B!

If you are type B, then you want to use your bassinet for other purposes. This will not only save you money, but also the space that other pieces of furniture would take up. There I have even understated in my decision tree, the Roba 4 in 1 can namely quite a lot. It is not only a practical bassinet with wheels, but can also be converted into a rocker if your baby falls asleep better to gentle rocking movements. If you would like to have your baby as close to you as possible at night, then simply convert the Roba bassinet into a side bed. It is continuously height-adjustable and can therefore be perfectly adapted to the height of your bed.

The Hauck Dreamer

The bassinet from Hauck does not have such a romantic look, as some other models have and also on the roles parents have to do without. But this is not a disadvantage here, because the Dreamer is particularly light and easy to transport. It can be folded with just one hand movement and the practical handle makes it easier to carry. This makes the bassinet from Hauck a practical travel bed at the same time. In the small pocket at the foot end, pacifiers, cuddly toys or toys find space. A practical bassinet with a great price.

The Chicco Baby Hug

When it comes to bassinets, the Baby Hug may look surprising at first. But there is a reason for that, because it is not only a bassinet, but also a high chair.

In the first six months, it provides a cozy place to lie down and can also be used as a recliner. Entertainment is provided by the electric play arch with cute toys hanging down. The wheels make the Chicco bassinet always mobile.

Later, the bassinet from Chicco is then simply used as a high chair. Babies sit safely thanks to the 5-point harness and the height can be adjusted to fit the parents’ table.

Bassinet Info

Why do I need a bassinet?

Babies feel more comfortable near their parents, especially in the first months. Then they feel safe and also sleep better. Therefore, in addition to a normal crib, it is also worth buying a side bed and a bassinet. The normal crib still seems very large in the beginning. In a side bed or bassinet, babies can feel secure.

This also has advantages for parents. A bassinet can simply be pushed next to the parents’ bed at night. This means that parents are immediately aware when the baby wakes up and mom can simply lie in bed for breastfeeding. During the day, the bassinet can always be placed where you are. This not only makes your baby feel more comfortable. With a bassinet you always have your baby in view and can still move freely. The mix of cradle and bassinet is especially great, as most babies find the gentle rocking motion very soothing.

What kind of bassinet do you want?

Many parents opt for the classic bassinet. It offers your baby a cozy place to sleep and, thanks to the wheels, can easily change rooms with you without your baby waking up.

But now there are also multifunctional models that are very practical. I have presented you here three models that either also serve as a side bed, high chair or travel bed. This is definitely practical, especially if you do not have so much space at home.

What you should look for when buying

In order for your baby to sleep really well and safely, you should pay attention to a few things. The different models are equipped differently, so you should make sure that the products are as free of harmful substances as possible.

Many bassinets come with a canopy and fabric upholstery. This looks nice and many babies feel more secure, but the air circulation is worse. If you use the bassinet a lot, it is recommended to remove at least the canopy.

It is very important that the bassinet is equipped with wheels, so that you can easily move it. This will also prevent the baby from waking up when he is sleeping. The rollers, at least two of them, should be lockable.

Also, make sure that the mattress is thick enough. Usually, the bassinet already contains a mattress, but it is not always sufficient. If necessary, therefore, should buy a new mattress, so that your baby really lies well.
