Before a door can be installed, it is necessary to install door frames, which are the end of the door frame. These are important for the overall fit of the door to be installed and therefore must be installed with great care. A door clamp exerts the necessary pressure so that the door frame can be stably installed at entrances.
You can find out how to prevent unsightly pressure points or which clamping width you need in our checklist for door clamps. You can find a selection of handy door clamps in our product recommendations.
- As the name suggests, door clamps are needed, among other things, to install doors (more precisely: door frames).
- Thus, the required span depends on the respective width of the passage. Usually, door clamps cover a range of door widths between 61 and 98.5 cm. However, in addition to the usual door dimensions, there are also doors that are only 50 cm wide.
- When buying, you should therefore make sure that the selected door clamp is also suitable for your project. Ideally, the clamping range should be as wide as possible. Some models have a range of 50 to 120 cm, others 70 to 140 cm.
- Easy handling is important. In particular, a quick-release pump system makes your work much easier. With this device, you can adjust the door clamp to the desired dimension, tighten it and loosen it again with just one hand.
- In addition, the adjustment must be infinitely variable. Only in this way can you generate the individually required pressure. A soft, padded handle is particularly comfortable.
- The load capacity refers to horizontal use. It can vary greatly from door clamp to door clamp. Some models have a load capacity of 30 kg, while other models have a load capacity of 60 kg.
- Heavy door cl amps are maximally stable and can usually exert extreme pressure. However, they are also much more cumbersome than lighter models. A door clamp with a weight of approx. 800 to 900grams is absolutely sufficient.
- Door clamps with ball bearings can be used without any problems even indifficult places and on slopes. They are ideal for diagonal use. As a rule, they are adjustable from -45 to +45° . Some models can also be used from -90 to +90°.
- Ideally, the support plates are non-slip and swivel. A rubberized coating also prevents ugly pressure marks.
