- The power consumption of a drilling machine defines the maximum force. At the same time, it also determines the maximum drilling diameter and drilling depth.
- A corded drill should be at least 600 watts to be used for various tasks.
- The minimum power of a hammer drill is 800 watts. This is the only way to drill efficiently into natural stone or reinforced concrete.
- For cordless screwdrivers , power consumption plays only a minor role. These devices are usually only used for screwing or drilling individual holes.
- Drilling in wood requires 700 to 1,200 revolutions per minute, depending on the drill diameter (12 to 4 mm). The larger the drill bit, the slower the speed should be. The reason for this is the greater speed on the outside of a drill bit and thus the higher heat generation.
- 650 to 2,000 revolutions per minute are needed when drilling in metal.
