E-Skateboards 2021 Checklist

Checklist For E-Skateboards 2021

Road aAproval
  • E-skateboards are intended less as a means of transportation and more as recreational fun. This also applies to models for children. Important: E-skateboards for children do not have road approval ex works. The boards can only be used on private property.
Own and Load Weight
  • A high-quality e-skateboard does not have to weigh a lot. Modern composites like carbon are lightweight yet sturdy! This lightness enhances mobility: your child can “tuck the board under his or her arms” and climb stairs, for example.
  • An e-skateboard should weigh no less than 3 and no more than 6 kilograms. Furthermore, the body weight of your child plays a role. If the e-skateboard is not made for the weight of your child, for example, because your protégé is too old, there is a risk of axle damage.

Flex
  • Flex is the bending force (flexibility). It is linked to the weight of the rider: the lighter the rider, the higher the theoretical flex. The higher the flex, the more the board bends and the easier it is for the rider to gain momentum. Finally, the knee has to bend less as the distance it travels decreases. However, if the flex is too low, there is also a risk of damage to the axles.
Rollers
  • Last but not least, the weight of the rider affects the rollers. Because they should be absolutely designed for the weight. Moreover, there are different types of rollers, for example for asphalt, clay, or gravel. With an all-round tire, all non-professionals are well-advised.
  • More important when choosing tires: the size. Large wheels stand for greater riding comfort, as they cushion bumps more efficiently. But wheels that are too big maximize the amount of effort needed to get out of the way because the tires have to travel a greater distance. We advise you to use tires with a maximum diameter of 70 millimeters!
Motor and Battery
  • An e-skateboard motor can be designed either as a dedicated variant or as a so-called in-wheel motor. The latter form is integrated into the tires and thus reduces the weight of the board. However, changing the tire is more complicated than with a dedicated motor. In this form, the weight increases, but also the energy (the efficiency of battery use).
  • So that your child can skate not only quickly, but also for a long time, a battery with a volume of at least 20 volts is recommended. The standard is 24 vol ts and some models have batteries with up to 32 volts. Depending on the volume, the maximum driving fun is between 1 and 3 hours.
Safety First
  • Manufacturers of e-skateboards often supply their speedsters with protective equipment. This is considered an absolute must! However, you should pay attention to the accuracy of fit ! We advise you to purchase protective equipment such as helmets and knee pads separately.
