Gennadi Padalka is 57 years old and now the sole record holder with the most days in space. The Russian has been in space for a total of 878 days – no one else has managed that so far and it will take a while before Padalka’s record is broken at some point. It took him a total of 5 flights into space, the first of which was made by Gennady Padalka in 1998. At that time, Padalka was still a commander on the Russian Space Station MIR and stayed there for 199 days. This was followed by stays on the ISS in 2004, 2009, and 2012. Padalka made the last trip in March 2015 and then stayed on the ISS until last weekend, which now makes him the record holder with the most days in space.
