Over the past 10 years I have really noticed a shift in women’s attitudes to pregnancy style. Long gone are the frumpy unflattering dresses and a need to stay behind closed doors!

Dressing for a stylish pregnancy

Women are now celebrating their newfound forms and are exploring their time whilst pregnant with style and poise.

Just because you are pregnant, does not mean you have to compromise on style. Stick with what you like & embrace your newfound curves. It is easy to look chic and stylish.

Here’s how to have a stylish pregnancy

Embrace your body

Choose figure-hugging, well-draped clothing. Larger over sized pieces will probably make you look twice the size and may not flatter your body.

By choosing figure hugging options, you will have a clearly defined shape that could take pounds of you.

StitchFix now has a maternity line so you can keep getting your Fix and try new maternity styles.

Cleavage

For most, pregnancy brings about an instant but temporary boob job! Embrace your new cleavage and invest in good supportive bras to help show off and emphasis your new found curves.

Choose V necklines. These will flatter your chest. Rounded necklines will give you less shape and will make you look boxier.

A good fitting bra will also help to define your shape and give you separation, by lifting the bust into position and separating your breasts from your belly. Resulting in a more curvy sexier you.

Choose color

Black is a great option for leggings or trousers, however, avoid wearing too much black around the face as it can make you look tied and old.

Color and small prints for tops and flowing dresses will help to lift your mood and flatter, making you look more youthful.

Avoid large prints; they will make you appear bigger.

Block color is a good option for those that like to keep their style simple. Choose a dark color such as black or navy on the bottom and choose a warm vibrant color on top that compliments your skin tone.

Accessories

A few great accessories will help to jazz up any outfit. Scarfs, bangles, necklaces, hats, shoes, belts, bag and jackets will help to add interest to your outfit.

Most of us will only invest in a small pregnancy wardrobe. Accessories are a wonderful way to reinvent an outfit giving your friends and family the illusion of a must larger wardrobe.

Accessories can also be used to dress up or down an outfit depending on the occasion.

Basics

No one wants to spend a fortune on a new wardrobe, to be worn for a short period of time.

Invest in a few key maternity pieces and mix and match with accessories to create a number of outfits.

We suggest:

– Black Leggings
– Skinny jeans
– Wrap dress
– Figure hugging tank tops in an assortment of colors

By investing in a small number of items, you can mix and match with your existing wardrobe and continue to enjoy the same great style you did before you became pregnant.
