Black Friday has turned into a day that really divides people. Some people LOVE the shopping and the deals and some people HATE the fact that the US has become so commericially oriented on a typically family centered holiday. I’m somewhere in between. I love the family parts of Thanksgiving, but I also love a deal. I’m torn. But anyways, I’m here to tell you about the best place to shop on Black Friday….and it’s NOT Best Buy OR Amazon.

The Most Surprising Place to Shop on Black Friday

This year (and the year before when I was 8 months pregnant), I went to Kohl’s for Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving night. I don’t live in the same state as any family members, so I’m free to leave the kids at home with my husband and shop.

I picked Kohl’s because I didn’t want to wait in line for hours before the store opened. The ad had some good deals – not great but good. I was out of the store after about an hour in line. I don’t know why I didn’t learn my lesson last year. No more Kohl’s Thanksgiving night sales for me!

On the other hand, Rite Aid has their Black Friday sales all day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Wow! I planned my Black Friday purchases at Rite Aid very carefully, keeping in mind all the +Ups I would earn and coupons I would use. By planning ahead I could try to spread out my purchases over the three days to maximize the savings and minimize the out of pocket expense.

Read about all the details on how to strategize your Rite Aid shopping for the lowest out of pocket expenses, check out this post from The Krazy Coupon Lady.

This year, I got a Home Depot $50 gift card for $40, 4 bottles of lotion for $2, a free CFL light bulb, 2 free containers of chips, and free pantiliners. There were other free items that would have been great for donations. And the best part – no waiting in line. Ok, there was one person in line ahead of me, but my wait was less than 5 minutes. Definitely not the same as my experience at Kohl’s.

Of course if you do want to stay inside and enjoy Thanksgiving night, you can find all the Amazon Black Friday Deals here. I’m sure there will be tons of deals.

Free stuff and no line at Rite Aid? Best Black Friday sale experience ever.
