In most young families, the partners go back to work after a year. Even before that, parents should think carefully about who will then look after their baby. Most parents choose a daycare center. But many ask themselves: Is a childminder perhaps more personal and better? At least for the youngest, this has some advantages to offer. Therefore, in this article I would like to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the daycare center and the childminder.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The KITA
In the daycare center, depending on the facility, babies can be cared for from the age of three months. KITAS are designed precisely to meet the needs of babies and usually also offer an acclimatization period, during which parents first visit the KITA briefly and then leave the little ones there for a shorter period of time. If the settling-in period goes well, babies can then stay there all day without any problems, so that you have time for work or other activities.
Another advantage is that daycare centers, as public institutions, are inspected for their quality, so you can be sure that your baby is being cared for optimally. KITAS are also perfectly designed to meet the needs of infants and toddlers, offering not only age-appropriate care and activities, but also sleeping and resting facilities.
Also Interesting:
At two to three years of age, the transition to kindergarten takes place. Another advantage is that many KITAS are directly connected to a kindergarten. This is a bonus for your child in particular, as he or she can continue to see the friends he or she has already met.
Tip: KITAS are booked up well in advance, so plan ahead and enroll your child as early as possible.
Advantages
- flexible childcare hours
- tested quality at public facilities
- comparatively inexpensive
- Contact with other children
- age-appropriate equipment
- often with associated kindergarten
Disadvantages
- long waiting lists
- groups too large for shy children
- fixed care times in the kindergarten
Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Childminder
A childminder, or even a daycare father, must have suitable premises and complete training. So this is also a professional, but not checked like a KITA.
The biggest advantage of a KITA is the manageable number of children in care. The small group usually consists of two to five children. This gives the childminder the opportunity to respond to the individual needs of the children. Especially with very small infants, this also allows for a quieter environment. For parents, there is usually the advantage that child minders can also take care of the child on weekends or at flexible times.
The main disadvantage is the higher care costs. In addition, parents should consider changing to a kindergarten after the first few years, where their child can have contact with more children.
Advantages
- small group
- Childminder can respond to individual needs
- flexible time management
Disadvantages
- higher care costs
- in the long run only contact with few children
- Quality is not checked regularly
KITA Or Childminder – What Does Your Gut Say?
Whether KITA or childminder – both options have advantages and disadvantages. Which one is the right one for your child depends on you. You should feel comfortable with the decision and be sure that your child is well cared for. Especially when it comes to childcare by a childminder, it is therefore advisable to first talk to different childminders. Do your child-rearing methods and values match? A childminder is often a stronger caregiver than a nursery school teacher.
Personally, I think it makes sense to switch to a kindergarten in the long run, where children can make more contacts. However, this is also a personal decision and depends on whether the care times fit your everyday life.
As you can see, the decision depends on your gut feeling. That’s why you should choose the childcare that you feel most comfortable with.
