The Right Christmas Tree For The Chancellor

The right Christmas tree has already been chosen for our Chancellor Angela Merkel. This year the tree comes from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Christmas Tree Comes In Front Of The Chancellery

For you and your parents, it is still too early to choose a Christmas tree. After all, it is still almost six weeks until we need it at home in the living room. But there are many important places in Germany where a Christmas tree is placed and how it should look like. One of these important places is the Chancellor’s Office, where Angela Merkel, our Chancellor works and sometimes lives for a few days. And exactly for this place, the tree was already chosen. Every year it comes from a different one of our 16 federal states. This year, the tree comes from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

It Must Be An Extra Beautiful Tree

Of course, a particularly beautiful Christmas tree is chosen for the Chancellor. For this, there are extra Federal Chancellery Christmas tree experts who go in search of such a tree. This year, Angela Merkel will get a Christmas tree in front of the Chancellery that is 12 meters high. The tree is a Red Spruce and has grown in a forest near Düsseldorf. The tree will soon be cut down and then transported to Berlin. The Chancellor will certainly be pleased. But not all people like that. There are also conservationists who say that this particularly beautiful tree is much too bad to be cut down.

Explanation Of The Difficult Words:

The Chancellor’s Office is a building in Berlin and the seat of the German federal authority of the same name. Angela Merkel works in this building. She could also live there because there is a large apartment for her there, but the Chancellor did not want that. Therefore, she continues to live with her husband in her own apartment.
