Xavier Naidoo does not drive now nevertheless to the ESC. After the NDR wanted to send him without a preliminary decision or a similar selection procedure to the European Song Contest there was a storm of indignation. Not only because of the selection process but also because Naidoo is said to have questionable political views. Now the NRD has backed down and Xavier Naidoo will not be allowed to take part in the ESC after all. The whole story is embarrassing – for everyone involved.

Xavier Naidoo: An Exceptional Artist With Confused Statements
Xavier Naidoo was born in Mannheim in 1971. His father is half German, half Indian; his mother is half South African, half Irish. Xavier Naidoo has been married since 2012 and has a 2-year-old son. He released his first CD as a solo artist in 1998 and it sold over a million copies. However, Xavier Naidoo is also known for some confusing statements and questionable views: So he is convinced to this day that Germany is in his opinion an occupied country and not a free country. He has also taken part as a dark-skinned person in an event organized by a group classified as a racist classified group. Naidoo, however, is of the opinion that one must approach all people and talk to them, no matter what their political views are.
Embarrassing NDR: First Yes, Then No
The NDR had presented Xavier Naidoo as a German participant in the ESC 2016. Then there were many critical voices because he was just fixed as a participant and not chosen in any way, as has been the case in recent years, and because of Naidoo’s questionable statements in public. As a result, the NRD withdrew its decision and decided that Xavier Naidoo would not be going to the ESC after all. A very embarrassing story for NDR: First they make a decision, then they revoke it again and don’t stand by it. And you can only feel sorry for Xavier Naidoo since he is being portrayed everywhere as something that he certainly is not.
Explanation Of The Difficult Words:
The ESC, or written out the European Song Contest is a European singing competition, in which the countries of Europe send a band or an artist, who then sings a song. In the end, the viewers in front of the TV decide who was the best and then wins the song contest. The predecessor of the ESC is the Grandprix Eurovision de la Chanson.
The NDR is the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR). The NDR includes several radio stations and a television station.
Someone is racist if he has prejudices against people with other skin colors. Some people are just afraid of people who look different from us for no reason.
