Whenever I’m starting to feel stressed out by my two daughters, I start hinting that my husband should take them out to do something special – just Daddy and daughters. Sure, I feel a little guilty, but I know he loves to do special things with them. He can tell when I just need a break for a little while. And when you’re on a budget, it’s great to find free Daddy daughter dates so you don’t break the bank. Outings can get quite expensive, but these options should keep everyone happy for free.

5 Free Daddy Daughter Dates - Perfect for Father's Day ideas for activities and outings for a father and his young daughter. Click here to read the full list.

There is a special relationship between a daddy and his daughter. I see it every day between my husband and my two daughters. They have him wrapped around their tiny little toddler fingers. Father’s Day is a time that should be celebrated and give daddy and daughter a little extra time to spend together. Here are 5 ideas for free daddy daughter dates.

And while Daddy and daughter are out having some bonding time, don’t forget to do something special for yourself.

5 Free Daddy Daughter Dates

Crafts at Home Depot

My husband loves taking our girls to Home Depot. Whenever we ask my oldest what Daddy’s favorite store is, she knows the answer is “Home Depot.” (Mommy’s favorite store is Target, of course.) They even have free kids workshops on the weekends. Daddy and daughter can go shopping and make a craft together for free. More info on the workshops here (and I heard you should get there early to get a spot).

Storytime at the Library

Daddy and daughter can head out to the library for some quiet bonding time over books. Check your local libraries to see if they offer free story time sessions that they can go to together. Hear a fun story, and then check out some books to take home for book time later.

Picnic at the park

Depending on the weather, the park is always a great location for free outdoors activities. Daddy can pack a blanket and a lunch for a sweet outdoor picnic after playing at the park. You should also check online to see if there are any free activities of concerts at the park. Since it is summer time, there may be something special going on.

Window shopping at the mall

The malls where we live currently all have fun indoor play areas that are completely free. Another option would be to window shop at the Microsoft store and play some Xbox games or Wii. You can even pet some animals at the pet store, before heading to the food court for a snack. My kids absolutely love going to the pet store and just looking at all the different pets.

A home cooked meal

Daddy and daughter don’t need to go anywhere to have special time together. If you have all the ingredients on hand for an easy kid-helper meal, like this Mexican Pizza with Homemade Refried Beans, daddy and daughter can stay home and cook together. The kids will love smashing the beans and sprinkling the ingredients on the pizza.

What’s your favorite free daddy daughter date?

So glad to see dads dating their daughters. I wrote a post on Dating Your Daughter/Son. We did it to our three daughters while raising them and they still remember their dates one-on-one with us. They are grown up now and now passing the same tradition to their children.

I would never had thought of the Home Depot crafts. That would be right up my husband’s alley, and my daughters just love anything daddy loves. Thanks for sharing!

We don’t have a home depot here, but we do have a Lowes and they do offer craft days. I am going to have to look into that for my hubby and girls this summer….I think they would love it!
