To my two beautiful daughters,
Please don’t buy me any gifts for Mother’s Day. I know you’re still little, so I will tell your Daddy too. I don’t need you to spend any money on me this Mother’s Day. I will be happy just spending time with you.
Please don’t buy me a card. I know there are some that are so sweet and come so close to getting the words just right, but I would rather hear the words “I love you,” straight from your sweet childish lips.
Please don’t buy me flowers. I know they’re pretty and smell so nice for a few days. But you, my daughters, are like constant, ever growing and changing roses. Flowers will only last me a few days, but I get to watch you grow and play every day.
Please don’t buy me jewelry. I know you love having necklaces around my neck to pull on. But your clear, bright eyes are all the jewels I need.
Please don’t buy me music. We love to dance together, but I would rather hear the sound of your laughter than any song.
Please don’t buy me a movie. The days are too short to spend them watching someone else’s life on a screen, when I should be spending time with you.
Please don’t buy me pretty clothes. While you’re young, I need clothes that are stretchy and comfy and don’t mind getting stained by dirty little hands holding onto me.
Please don’t buy me any gifts for Mother’s Day. Just smile and laugh and play with me. Tell me you love me, and hug me and kiss me. Stay my little babies for always and remember I’m a mommy because of you.
Love, Mommy

What a beautiful letter! Gifts aren’t necessary, just time with the babies — totally agree!
